If you receive a low redundancy offer from your employer, you must be pragmatic. The amount on offer could be:

  • All the company is able to offer you in the circumstances; or
  • Limited/capped, i.e. there are instructions to limit the amount of redundancy pay to a certain amount.

If none of the above apply, it is worth approaching the company as early as possible to see if there is any room for negotiation on the redundancy package.
