We regularly receive employment law enquiries relating to redundancy pay and in particular, what payment in lieu of notice (PILON) means. PILON is where an upfront payment is made by an employer to an employee facing redundancy, and would be of such amount to cover the employee’s notice period e.g. 4 weeks.
